1. Give 3 important roles of Educational Technology in Education

Technology is an important part of today's society. By incorporating it into the classroom, students will be better equipped to transition from the classroom to the work place.
Ø Example: Instead of being able to add a long column of numbers in their heads, they turn to a calculator.
Technology has also become part of many curriculums
Ø Example: Students use computers to create presentations and use the Internet to research topics for papers and essays.
Technology used in the classroom helps students adsorb the material.
Ø Example: Since some people are visual learners, projection screens linked to computers can allow students to see their notes instead of simply listening to a teacher deliver a lecture.
2. Explain the differences of the following: (10 points)
a. Educational Technology
Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources."The term educational technology is often associated with, and encompasses, instructional theory and learning theory.
b. Instructional Technology
Instructional technology is "the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning," according to the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Definitions and Terminology Committee, educational technology includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability.
c. Technology in Education
Technology of education is most simply and comfortably defined as an array of tools that might prove helpful in advancing student learning and may be measured in how and why individuals behave.
d. Instructional Media
Instructional media encompasses all the materials and physical means an instructor might use to implement instruction and facilitate students' achievement of instructional objectives
e. Educational Media
Educational media is the process through which individuals become media literate - able to critically understand the nature, techniques and impacts of media messages and productions.
3. What is the primary concern of Educational Technology 2 course in your own opinion? (10 points)
Integrate technology into teaching and learning process.
The student is able to access information efficiently and effectively. That is, the student knows when to seek information beyond his or her personal knowledge, how to frame questions that will lead to the appropriate information, and where to seek that information.
4. Give two (2) concrete examples used in actual classroom environment of each Edgar Dale’s “The Cone of Experience.” (35 points)
Students work in pairs. Each has a different picture that should not be shown to their partner. The students take turns asking each other yes or no questions to find out how the pictures are different.
Ronald and Mark give the scenario of a heart surgeon. The surgeon cannot learn simply by hands-on experience, or the patient will die. This surgeon likewise cannot learn simply through reading, since reading is not a substitute for real life. If one regards the Cone as a continuum, the surgeon may learn best through a variety of different teaching methods inorder to maximize retention.
5. Give your reflections with regards to what have you learn so far on this preliminary term. (35 points)
One of my favorate topic in priliminiray is Edgar Dale’s “The Cone of Experience.” When Dale researched learning and teaching methods he found that much of what we found to be true of direct and indirect (and of concrete and abstract) experience could be summarised in a pyramid or 'pictorial device' Dales called 'the Cone of Experience'. It was merely designed as a visual aid to help explain the interrelationships of the various types of audio-visual materials, as well as their individual 'positions' in the learning process.
